What to Expect with Oral Exam
At the beginning of your appointment, we'll offer you a pair of trendy MINT sunglasses to protect your eyes during your oral health examination as you enjoy a relaxing massage in a treatment chair. Your exam will begin as your dentist checks the overall health of your mouth while you choose whether to watch a show or jam out with a pair of our Beats headphones. Next, a member of the MINT dentistry team will get a series of digital x-rays to show possible concerns like abnormal tissue and cavities. Using palpating techniques, the dentist will check your head and neck, especially your jawbone and temporomandibular joints (TMJ). Your board-certified MINT dentist will go over your results and, if an issue needs to be addressed, your treatment options will be reviewed. Your MINT team will record your whole health, including any supplements and medications you are taking to see if this may be affecting your oral health. Finally, your dentist will examine any restorations you have, like a crown or dentures, to determine if you need any repairs or a replacement.
Oral Exam Treatment Aftercare
Assuming your dentist doesn't diagnose any concerns, then the only aftercare necessary would be to continue a regimen of home oral care, which includes brushing and flossing twice a day. You should also continue to schedule twice yearly cleanings with oral health examinations at MINT dentistry. Most patients only need an oral health examination twice a year, but MINT dentistry may suggest scheduling exams more often for patients with certain oral health problems. If our team does diagnose an issue, treatment options will be discussed and scheduled. As a common example, if we find a dental cavity, we will ask you to schedule an appointment to get a treatment with a tooth-colored filling or crown.
